Bayridge circa 1900
Deep-rooted residents of Watch Hill will concede that Bayridge is the last of its houses to remain authentic thanks to the family who has owned it and lovingly cared for it since 1945. The character of this house speaks classic Watch Hill: its shingle-style architecture with gambrel roof, the cobblestone wall bordering two sides of the close to two-acre property, the discreet path ending at a dock on secluded Foster Cove, and the interior that has kept so many signs of a bygone era. Five porches – one wrapping around the front, two open to the back of the house, one screened-in and one with glass windows – provide outdoor living in any type of weather. Light modernization hits the perfect balance between the beauty of the past and the comfort of the present.
